Peter and Angela~ A match.com love story

Angela and Peter found love on match.com. They connected over interests like camping, hunting, and being outdoors. Three years later Peter proposed on a beach in Carmel. Their rustic wedding took place at the Mounted Patrol in Woodside Ca. True to there personalities the wedding was carefree and seemed uncomplicated, but, that didn't mean thought wasn't put into every detail. Angela definitely did her research and invested time in making sure her wedding was a perfect representation of Peter and her. It was truly a DIY wedding. Her bouquets were simple babies breath made by her bridesmaids the night before. The menus that lay on the napkins (attached by mini clothes pins) featured items like " Marsha's hoe down potato salad" lovingly provided by family members. Laughter filled the room as everyone dug in using silverware that was hand painted with yellow handles. I asked her how long it took and she said about 10 hours. I am always impressed when a bride has...

The Serna Men!! Generation Portraits

This is Sergio Sr. Sergio Jr. and Jesse. Jesse is 6 but, going on 16. Working with children of that age is always difficult. Who wants to sit/stand still while someone takes pictures... BORING! I find that making it into a game, or asking for funny faces makes children more interested. I let him set the pace. You can't force a child to smile, or punish them for not smiling ( I have witnessed that in the past) trust me it doesn't work. In fact it only guarantees that next year when it's family portrait time, you will have a melt down on your hands. Bringing his/her favorite toy is a good idea too. You can offer to take a picture of it for him/her. I let Jesse stand where he wanted, pose like he wanted and posed the family around HIM. Another trick I use is letting the kids take a picture of his parents with my camera (camera strap ON, lol). They love that and it makes them feel more involved. My rule is let the kid be a kid and your bound to get some great shots. Here...

The Ritter Family

Kelly and Tim

Kelly and Tim's October 11th, 2008 simple ceremony took place at the modest Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Newark. Following the ceremony we took a short drive to Shinn Park a great location for portraits. The reception was held at the Spin A Yarn restaurant in Warm Springs. I had so much fun shooting these two. You could feel the love not only between the two of them but also the loving support from the entire bridal party. The reception rocked without losing the dignity of the occasion. It was a very nice wedding, and I was privileged to be a part of it. Tim and Kelly decided on a 10x10 imount flush album. Here are some of the pages. I would like to give special thanks to designbyjenn.com she has amazing and versatile templates. Check her out! http://design-byjenn.blogspot.com/.

The Many Faces of Jaclyn

This is Jaclyn, photographic by nature. We started the day at the local laundry mat for some funky creative shots then spent the rest of the day driving down a rural road and stopping whenever we saw something interesting to shoot in front of. Jaclyn is a photography student herself so posing was effortless for her, as her photo's plainly show. We had fun changing clothes, hopping fences, and running into a dead deer, it was an adventure to say the least. I liked so many it was hard to pick just one!

Maternity Portrait Session

I recently just had a maternity session. This is Courtney and Mitch. Aren't they cute?? This shoot was done in studio. The effect was achieved by hanging a sheer in front of a window that was getting about 11:00 am sun light. I love the diffused effect.

Introducing Myself

Hello everyone! This is my very first blog entry. I would like to take this opportunity to tell everyone a little about myself and what we do here at The Cherry Bazaar. I am a beauty photographer and I specialize in women, but, I also shoot weddings, maternity, family, and children. I have been shooting for about 9 years and am self taught. Although I did decide a few years ago to take some college classes, I have found that a majority of good photography is about timing and anticipating the moment before it happens. This is something you can't teach. However education is very important to me and I will always continue to expand on what I know as the industry changes. I have a traditional style with a photo journalistic twist. I do not consider myself to be strictly photo journalistic, because, I find a lot of times people feel more comfortable with a little direction. That being said I will always love the candid before the portrait. Many people may wonder what Ch...
