Bombshell Bash

It's back!!!! This seasons event is going to be the biggest and most amazing, ever. The location, Reiff's gas station, which is a vintage museum has everything a girl could want in a backdrop from a real 50's style diner, gas station, and vintage cars. I will have accessories and some clothing options for those of you with a limited wardrobe. You will be able to see some of my available items on my facebook fanpage under vintage props , I am updating them this week. Some frequently asked questions : Do you provide clothing? Some limited pieces, obviously I cannot provide enough variety for every shape and sized girl, I will have photos up in "vintage props" album soon. Do I have to were lingerie? NO! In fact I prefer taking photos of girls in regular vintage style clothing. You are welcome to wear whatever you are most comfortable in. I am always available to help with wardrobe decisions. How early should I be there to get made over? You need to com...

Benley~ 6 months already!!

I have had the remarkable joy of capturing Bentley's life from the womb. He is now 6 months and couldn't be cuter. It is a challenge doing baby pictures. I always end up making some sort of fool out of myself in front of the moms. lol. I thought I would go over a few things for moms thinking of doing this type of session. Here are some pointers for making your session easy. Don't fuss over clothes, you will find the portraits you love the most are the ones that are simple and uncomplicated. Nothing is cuter than a naked baby. Schedule your session after a nap for those happy shots. A good photographer will be flexible about breaks, in fact we prefer it. We want your baby to be happy and comfortable. If you want to have those great straight into the camera shots, try to resist the temptation to call your babies name and try to try and make them laugh, unless the photographer asks you too. This will keep you from getting a bunch of photo where your baby is looking off to ...

Paparazzi/Trash the Dress.... Prom Style!

So I know that Junior and senior prom is approaching and so much work goes into looking your best. I wanted to offer some sort of package to my teenage clients that will document them looking their best! So I came up with two ideas. One is a paparazzi package in which I take portraits before your prom with you, your date and your friends. (up to 12 people) On top of that (dependent on school rules) I will follow you around during and after prom capturing the entire evening on camera. You will have your own paparazzi! The photos will then be put into a a small book for each of your friends to keep forever. The cost would be $100 per person. (minimum 6 people). The second is an editorial shoot. This is done after prom has come and gone and your stuck with this expensive dress you will never wear again. You and up to 5 of your friends will put back on those dresses and travel to an urban area for your very own trash the dress photo shoot. (we won't literally trash the dress, unless y...

The Ritter Family

Missy, model in the making...

Missy is a 19 yr old from Vacaville. We had such an adventure taking these photo's. I really wanted to try out some new locations around the Bay Area, and she was up for anything. We started in a beautiful woodsy area in the Oakland Hills, however I struggled with avoiding blotches of light through the trees. I was really hoping for an overcast day day because, the redwoods fill with a wonderful fog. Next we tried some rolling hills that looked great from afar, but, up close were actually filled with prickly weeds that were impossible to sit on. So we took some standing and then moved on to the biggest adventure of all. I had passed this little hidden creek, that is alongside a major road I took to work everyday for a year. I always thought it would be an awesome location for a portrait session. The only problem with the lo cation was how would we get over the cement wall and climb down the slippery rocks with all my equipment while speeding cars brushed us a 45 miles per hour?? l...

Kelly and Tim

Kelly and Tim's October 11th, 2008 simple ceremony took place at the modest Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Newark. Following the ceremony we took a short drive to Shinn Park a great location for portraits. The reception was held at the Spin A Yarn restaurant in Warm Springs. I had so much fun shooting these two. You could feel the love not only between the two of them but also the loving support from the entire bridal party. The reception rocked without losing the dignity of the occasion. It was a very nice wedding, and I was privileged to be a part of it. Tim and Kelly decided on a 10x10 imount flush album. Here are some of the pages. I would like to give special thanks to designbyjenn.com she has amazing and versatile templates. Check her out! http://design-byjenn.blogspot.com/.

The Many Faces of Jaclyn

This is Jaclyn, photographic by nature. We started the day at the local laundry mat for some funky creative shots then spent the rest of the day driving down a rural road and stopping whenever we saw something interesting to shoot in front of. Jaclyn is a photography student herself so posing was effortless for her, as her photo's plainly show. We had fun changing clothes, hopping fences, and running into a dead deer, it was an adventure to say the least. I liked so many it was hard to pick just one!

Maternity Portrait Session

I recently just had a maternity session. This is Courtney and Mitch. Aren't they cute?? This shoot was done in studio. The effect was achieved by hanging a sheer in front of a window that was getting about 11:00 am sun light. I love the diffused effect.

Introducing Myself

Hello everyone! This is my very first blog entry. I would like to take this opportunity to tell everyone a little about myself and what we do here at The Cherry Bazaar. I am a beauty photographer and I specialize in women, but, I also shoot weddings, maternity, family, and children. I have been shooting for about 9 years and am self taught. Although I did decide a few years ago to take some college classes, I have found that a majority of good photography is about timing and anticipating the moment before it happens. This is something you can't teach. However education is very important to me and I will always continue to expand on what I know as the industry changes. I have a traditional style with a photo journalistic twist. I do not consider myself to be strictly photo journalistic, because, I find a lot of times people feel more comfortable with a little direction. That being said I will always love the candid before the portrait. Many people may wonder what Ch...
