Bombshell Bash

It's back!!!! This seasons event is going to be the biggest and most amazing, ever. The location, Reiff's gas station, which is a vintage museum has everything a girl could want in a backdrop from a real 50's style diner, gas station, and vintage cars. I will have accessories and some clothing options for those of you with a limited wardrobe. You will be able to see some of my available items on my facebook fanpage under vintage props, I am updating them this week.

Some frequently asked questions:

Do you provide clothing?
Some limited pieces, obviously I cannot provide enough variety for every shape and sized girl, I will have photos up in "vintage props" album soon.

Do I have to were lingerie?
NO! In fact I prefer taking photos of girls in regular vintage style clothing. You are welcome to wear whatever you are most comfortable in. I am always available to help with wardrobe decisions.

How early should I be there to get made over?
You need to come an 1 1/2 hours early if you are later it will cut into your shoot time.

Are you going to make me skinny?
There is an awful lot of photo shopping that goes into creating that pin up look. Since actual vintage pin up posters were paintings rendered from photos, they were an exaggeration of the models natural shape.Your skin will be flawless, rolls smoothed, and waist nipped. I do my best to keep your natural shape and size. It is important to me that you see the beauty in your body so you will not be made to look "skinny" you will be a pin up version of yourself.

How many pictures should I expect from 2 outfits/ four poses?
I take several shots of each pose, and I select the best for retouching. The average session will produce 10-20 images depending on the girl. This may seem like a "little amount" but you will find even with 10 it can be  overwhelming to pick which ones you want displayed. Most girls don't even print most of them. Even if you are doing a small book from your photos this amount is still sufficient.

How long before I get my CD?
Due to the volume of these events and the extensive editing I do on every shot to make you look "flawless dawling" It takes about 4 weeks.

Do I get to pick my own photo for my complimentary 11x14 poster?
Yes. After you receive your CD you will have one week to select your favorite to get enlarged.

Can I bring a friend?
Yes. Friends are great for support and they make it, fun. If you want your friend in your shots with you she will need to purchase her own session which will cover the make over and the extra time needed. There is a $30.00 discount for girls that book together. You do not however need to be in each others shots to benefit from the discount.

Can I pay less if I do my own hair and make up?
No. You are welcome to come ready, but you will still need to pay the $250.00 due to the fact that the style team will need to be paid for the the day whether the girls need them or not.

Can I order extra prints, calendars, coffee table books etc. from you?
Yes. Of course I would love to discuss the fun things you can do with your photos to display them in a unique way.

I noticed this is more than your previous events, why?
In the beginning I felt it was important to me to offer a great price in order to break into Pin up photography. I was new to posing, editing, and styling this genre efficiently. Having done several of these events along with individual sessions I am very confident in my work and ability to produce great pin up style images. This event not only includes a second outfit, but, fully retouched photos (instead of edited proofs), along with the most amazing location we have ever had. I hope you will see how unbelievable of a deal this is.

How do I book my slot?
You will need to contact me, select a time, and pay the $50.00 deposit. Your slot will NOT be booked until deposit is received. I have had girls in the past book a time slot and them drop out last minute so your slot will be up for grabs if someone sends payment first. The appointments are first come first serve. They start at 10:15am and span until 5:50pm. You will have an hour and 1/2 roughly to get made over, dressed and onto set. The shooting takes 20 min. You will then have 20 min to change, (while I shoot another girl) and then come back for your second outfit which is another 20 min. You will need to alot roughly 3 hours for your session.

Many girls have shown interest in my pin up events but, do not book due to there own insecurities, body issues, or other reasons. I would like to address this:

I would love to do this, but, I need to lose a little weight first.
My job as a photographer is to make you look and feel gorgeous in the body you have now. So many of my clients have been hesitant to have pictures taken, but, leave feeling more beautiful and sexy than they did when they were younger and thinner. The honest truth is if we keep waiting to live life util we "lose some weight" we will never be happy in the skin were in.

I am not comfortable having my picture taken.
I know it is really intimidating being in front of the camera. I really make the  experience as natural and playful as possible, by the time you are in your hair, make up, clothes, and pose, you will feel like a star. You will surprise yourself.

I don't have any vintage clothing.
Most of the time the hair and make up alone are enough to evoke that pin up look. You can simply wear jeans and a tank top and look amazing. I have several ideas and accessories for turning a modern outfit into a vintage look. This is the last thing you should worry about. If you like you can email me photos of some pieces you own and I can assist you in transforming your outfit into a "pin up" look..

Below are some quotes from women just like you:

"Brandee is the sweetest, most creative photographer I have ever met. Brandee and her hair/make-up artists really made me believe that I was/am beautiful, and then she sent the photos to prove it! Everyone who's seen my pictures is asking me "who is the photographer? and how can I get my photos done, too?" My only regret in referring her is that now I fear I'll never be able to get another appointment!"

"Brandee is the best photographer! I receently had a shoot with her that made me feel more beautiful and more comfortable than I had EVER been in front of a camera! She has a unique and special way of making you feel right at home and like the prettiest girl in the world. My pictures came out so amazing that it took me hours to decide on which ones to choose."

"Brandee!! You are so awesome! I was terrified of having my picture taken, but you really made the experience fun and very comfortable, so comfortable that I didn't want to stop taking pictures that day :) I love all the pictures that you took! You are simply amazing in so many ways!! I cannot wait to work with you again:)!"

I hope this helps if there is anything that I haven't covered you can call me at 510-274-1213. :)

Photographing Children "Jesse, his father, and grandfather"

This is Sergio Sr. Sergio Jr. and Jesse. Jesse is 6 but, going on 16. Working with children of that age is always difficult. Who wants to sit/stand still while someone takes pictures... BORING! I find that making it into a game, or asking for funny faces makes children more interested. I let him set the pace. You can't force a child to smile, or punish them for not smiling ( I have witnessed that in the past) trust me it doesn't work. In fact it only guarantees that next year when it's family portrait time, you will have a melt down on your hands. Bringing his/her favorite toy is a good idea too. You can offer to take a picture of it for him/her. I let Jesse stand where he wanted, pose like he wanted and posed the family around HIM. Another trick I use is letting the kids take a picture of his parents with my camera (camera strap ON, lol). They love that and it makes them feel more involved. My rule is let the kid be a kid and your bound to get some great shots. Here are a ...

Benley~ 6 months already!!

I have had the remarkable joy of capturing Bentley's life from the womb. He is now 6 months and couldn't be cuter. It is a challenge doing baby pictures. I always end up making some sort of fool out of myself in front of the moms. lol. I thought I would go over a few things for moms thinking of doing this type of session. Here are some pointers for making your session easy. Don't fuss over clothes, you will find the portraits you love the most are the ones that are simple and uncomplicated. Nothing is cuter than a naked baby. Schedule your session after a nap for those happy shots. A good photographer will be flexible about breaks, in fact we prefer it. We want your baby to be happy and comfortable. If you want to have those great straight into the camera shots, try to resist the temptation to call your babies name and try to try and make them laugh, unless the photographer asks you too. This will keep you from getting a bunch of photo where your baby is looking off to ...
